The Boone County Extension Homemakers love helping our local communities and with that comes opportunities for our community members to help the BCEH fill that goal.
Each year the BCEH holds events and more where the public can join in on the fun to help the BCEH meet their giving back goals. If you are looking for opportunities to give back to the community or need service hours we would love to work with you.
Volunteering opportunities include but not limited too:
BCEH Sews for Local Chariites: this event happens 3 times a year. You do not need to know how to sew to participate! Duties included but not limited to: cutting fabric, ironing, sewing, sewing on a sewing machine, tie blankets and stuff pillows. You can come for an hour or stay for the whole time.
Helping in the BEEHIVE during the Boone County 4-H Fair during one of our 3-6 hour shifts. Duties include but not limited to: Following opening instructions of the Beehive, following cooking recipes, cooking on the grill and/or fryers, hot-dog station, stove top and microwave, serving on the line, wrapping sandwiches, clean-up, cleaning trays, trash, dishes, and cutting up fruit and veggies.
BCEH Open Show: This event takes place during the Boone County 4-H Fair. Duties might include, set-up and take down, checking in items, passing out awards and more.
Boone County Extension Homemakers Holiday Bazaar: this event is always the Saturday BEFORE Thanksgiving. Duties include but not limited to: Vendor Check-In, welcome tables, passing out event stickers, decoration set-up and/or tear down, clean-up
Wreaths Across America: next event is Dec. 19, 2026. Duties include but not limited to: placing wreaths on veterans graves, sorting wreaths, checking off placement listings, reading a cemetery map
